St John’s is an all-age (2-19) special school catering for 170 pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties. We are part of a multi-academy trust (BILTT) of three special schools in Bedford.  BILTT has just been selected by the DfE to set up, lead and manage a new Free Special School in Bedford.  This is due to open in 2020.  We have been judged outstanding by Ofsted in 4 consecutive inspections and are highly regarded within Bedfordshire and the Eastern Region. 

There are excellent opportunities for professional development within St John’s and across the BILTT. We have an unrivalled professional development programme at our school and would welcome applications from NQTs.

We are looking for the following professional to join our lively, dynamic, expert and specialist team.

Full – Time Class Teacher (for our Primary or Secondary Department dependent on experience)

Salary will be paid on the MPS Scale (plus 1 SEN point) for teachers and dependent on qualifications and experience

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be committed, enthusiastic and self-reflective
  • Be experienced in the field of special education
  • Possess excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring pupils achieve their full potential
  • Plan and deliver learning which is fun, engaging, relevant and functional
  • Work collaboratively with external professionals e.g. therapists
