Welcome

I am honoured to introduce myself as the new Headteacher of Greys Education Centre. It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that I step into this role, and I am eager to work alongside our community to support our young people to overcome challenges, reach their potential, and thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Greys Education Centre is a place where every student is valued, heard, and supported. I believe strongly in the power of education to change lives and, most importantly, that every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their starting point. Our highly skilled and dedicated staff team ensure that our pupils are at the heart of everything we do.  Together, we will continue to foster a nurturing, safe, and respectful environment where all our pupils can rebuild their confidence, rediscover their passion for learning, and grow as individuals.

Greys Education Centre works with Primary and Secondary pupils experiencing difficulties at their mainstream school, at risk of permanent exclusion or having been permanently excluded, or are unable to access mainstream for health reasons.

We are a short-term stay school, based on three sites:

Primary Provision in Bromham (Years 1-6)
Secondary Provision in Kempston (Years 7-11)
Hospital Provision in Bedford Hospital (Years 1-11)

The HIVE is based at Bromham for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) pupils with an Education Health and Care Plan. It caters for long-term placements for Years 1-6. Places are requested via Bedford Borough SEND Team.

We work in partnership with families and professionals to provide a strong team around the individual and a better understanding of their strengths and needs.

Our curriculum offer is broad and balanced with a focus on personal growth and the development of key skills needed to succeed in learning and life. Alongside core National Curriculum subjects, we offer academic and creative options and learner led project-based learning, as well as enrichment opportunities such as swimming, Forest School, DJ Sessions, Horse Riding and Boxing. We aim to prepare our learners the next steps in their education; whether this be a return to mainstream school, specialist provision or post 16 options.

Greys Education Centre has been recognised as a UNICEF Silver Rights Aware School. This recognises the work that we have done, and continue to do in placing The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of our planning, policies, practice and ethos. We offer the opportunity for pupils to explore and reflect in a safe and nurturing space, where everyone is valued equally and all have a voice.

We have high expectations for our pupils and are immensely proud of their achievements and the progress they make in the short time that they are with us. We hope that the information on our website gives you an insight into the fantastic work of Greys Education Centre, the achievements and positive experiences of the pupils who attend, and the endeavour and commitment of the staff who work here.
